One man had to be cut from a rubbish truck after it struck a pole near Currambine in the early hours of this morning.

The garbage truck rolled after it hit a light pole at about 1am on Mitchell Freeway northbound, 400m from the Burns Beach Road exit.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews from Perth, Joondalup and Butler attended the scene to free the man from his vehicle.

A man reportedly broke his leg in the accident and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital via Saint John Ambulance. Another person was taken to Joondalup Health Campus under normal road conditions.

Police also attended the scene.

The crash temporarily interrupted traffic but has since been cleared.
