Universe delivers baby joy

There could be a future beauty queen in the making after Perth couple Troy and Sophia Barbagallo welcomed their first baby into the world this week.

The prominent pair, who run the WA leg of the Australian Miss Universe competition, had a baby girl on Monday called Madison Mia.

It is the first baby for the Barbagallos, who married in a surprise wedding in New York in May 2011 and helm ToyBox children's charity and Box Magazine, while Troy has a teenage son Dominic from a former relationship.

"Thanks for all the messages and love. Feeling extremely blessed to have a perfect little girl join our family and on my luckiest of days," Sophia, a former ballerina and Miss World WA 2004, wrote on Instagram along with a photo of her little girl's hand.

"Cannot wait to introduce her to all our family & friends.

"#itsagirl Can't / can believe Troy was right again!!"

Troy couldn't contain his excitement writing: "She's a girl.You little beauty. She's amazing."

The couple will enjoy some downtime with their new daughter before embarking on the search for the next crop of local beauty queens, having helped Perth win back-to-back Miss Universe Australia titles in 2011 and 2012 with Scherri-Lee Biggs and Renae Ayris.

Some of the couple's famous friends have already sent their best wishes, with Rebecca Judd and Jesinta Campbell leading the tributes.

"Congrats @sophiabarbagallo @troybarbagallo A sweet angel to call your own," Judd, who will return to Perth in September to walk in the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival's Ruth Tarvydas tribute show, wrote next to the first photo of Madison on Instagram.

Campbell added: "She is perfect! Sending love to you all xxx".
