Bushfire warning for Broome blaze

Update: A fire warning has been issued for a blaze north of Broome.

A bushfire advice has been issued for people near Barred Creek and travellers on Cape Leveque Road and Manari Road 40km north of Broome.

The bushfire is moving fast in a southerly direction.

The fire is out of control and unpredictable and is burning in inaccessible terrain.

Currently there has been 8,000 hectares burnt.

The cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious.

There is currently no threat to lives and homes.

The fire started on Cape Leveque Road 30km from the Broome Highway.

There is a lot of smoke and fire activity on Cape Leveque Road and Manari Road.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site

Manari Road, north of the Willie Creek access road have been closed.

Twenty five career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters from Broome are on the scene.

Firefighters are assisting with evacuations and actively fighting the fire.

The fire was reported at 2pm on July 1.
