Chopper crew allegedly spots graffiti in progress

A driver allegedly spotted by a police helicopter crew on another job is accused of spraying graffiti on a building site in Ellenbrook.

A WA Police spokesman said the chopper was on patrol just after 7.15pm last night after being called to the area earlier in relation to an attempted burglary. The flight crew allegedly noticed a unrelated vehicle being driven slowly around the local streets.

"The flight crew monitored the vehicle, which stopped near the corner of Grassdale Parkway and Forsyth Grange," the police spokesman said.

"The driver exited the vehicle and was seen to approach a house that was under construction.

"It will be alleged the driver then sprayed paint on items outside the house, before getting back in the car and driving off.

The helicopter crew continued to monitor the vehicle and officers from the Regional Investigations Unit intercepted it a short time later.

The vehicle and the 22-year-old male driver were searched and police allegedly found a big number of spray cans.

Inquiries are continuing.
