Fashion giant Zara coming to Perth

Spanish clothing giant Zara is set to open its first WA store at Garden City, it was announced today.

Staff for the Booragoon shopping centre made the announcement on social media this morning, although staff at Zara are yet to confirm further details.

“We’re a little bit excited to announce that Garden City will be the home to WA’s first ZARA store!” Garden City posted on Facebook.

A spokeswoman for the company confirmed the news to The West Australian this morning and said an opening was planned for late August.

“This will make it Zara’s 10th Australian store since arriving on our shores in 2011,” a spokeswoman said.

The retailer has also lodged a $5 million development application for a site at Murray Street Mall, next door to a site earmarked for fellow fashion giant Topshop.

Lease Equity director Fred Clohessy, who negotiated Zara’s lease in Perth, previously said Zara was considering other sites in Perth.

“Zara will be looking to the suburbs and the chances of them having two or three other stores apart from the CBD are pretty strong,” he told The West Australian last year.

Fans on social media have celebrated the news of the immensely popular retailer’s pending arrival in Perth.

“I’ll be there opening day whenever it is! Sold my soul over 7 years ago and been waiting ever since!” one Facebook user posted.
