She is used to mentoring up-and-coming performers on American Idol and now Jennifer Lopez will lend some star power to The X Factor Down Under.

The diva has agreed to a guest stint on the reality giant's Aussie version, stepping in as a guest judge for three episodes during the home visits round.

Lopez will help one of the four superstar judges decide which burgeoning singers to send through to live shows.

However, the hitmaker, who recently performed at the 2014 World Cup opening ceremony in Brazil, admitted she could not pick the difference between a Kiwi and an Australian accent.

"(Your accents) do sound a little similar to us, you know, when you hear them side by side. Please don't be mad at us," Lopez told an Eastern States paper.

The Latin-American songstress will appear on three episodes of The X Factor, the latest series of which begins in July.

Stars Redfoo, Dannii Minogue, Ronan Keating and Natalie Bassingthwaighte are all returning to their judging posts on the Seven show.
