A 17-year-old boy is due to appear in a children's court after allegedly driving about 110km/h over the speed limit.

Police conducting patrols on South Western Highway near Waroona at 7pm yesterday saw a Toyota Camry travelling at 127km/h in a 110km/h zone.

Teen, 17, 110km/h over limit

It is alleged the driver ignored police requests to stop the car.

"Due to open rural paddocks, police were able to observe the vehicle from a distance," police said.

"It is further alleged the vehicle continued driving and was detected doing approximately 170km/h along Riverdale Road.

"This road is zoned 80km/h on approach to Cookernup town site and 60km/h through the town."

The car and driver were found soon after on Riverdale Road in Cookernup.

The Cookernup teen will be summonsed for reckless driving and is expected to appear in Harvey Children's Court.

The car has been impounded for 28 days.
