Guns seized in firearms crackdown

Police have seized homemade pen guns, a handgun and a modified rifle in an ongoing operation to get illegal firearms off the streets.

Three pen guns and a 0.177 calibre handgun were seized during a raid in Camillo yesterday.

A 20-year-old Camillo man will be summonsed to appear in Armadale Magistrates Court on weapons and drugs charges at a later date.

Geraldton police recovered a sawn-off rifle fitted with a homemade silencer during a traffic stop on Wednesday night. Inquiries are continuing.

Meanwhile, police have appealed information about the theft of four licensed guns and 10 replica firearms from a Swanbourne house on April 20, this year.

All four weapons were secured in a locked firearms cabinet at the North Street address.

WA Police this week joined law enforcement agencies across Australia to launch Operation Unification, an initiative to get illegal guns off the streets.

Anyone with information about the Swanbourne theft or any illegal firearms can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
