Car slams into Thornlie house

A woman has had a lucky escape after her car crashed into a house in Thornlie this afternoon.

The woman was turning her Toyota Camry off Forest Lake Drive just after midday when she was allegedly rear-ended by a four wheel drive driven by a P-plate driver.

The impact sent the car crashing through the fence of a nearby house and into one of the spare bedrooms.

Neighbour Barry Gibbons said the retired owner of the house had just left on a trip to South Africa.

"Unfortunately, this street has become quite notorious for speed," he said.

"Regular complaints to police and council don't seem to change the attitude of the drivers."

Neighbours said the woman was uninjured, but very shaken up.

"She hit a couple of gas cylinders when she crashed, if those had fractured she could have been cooked," one man said.

Police spoke to both drivers at the scene and are still investigating the crash.
