Man charged over crime spree
A 35-year-old Madora Bay man has been charged over an alleged crime spree in Perth’s southern suburbs last night.
About 7pm, officers were called to a Port Kennedy home which had reportedly been burgled.
A police spokeswoman said items were stolen from the house before the 35-year-old allegedly fled the area in a stolen black Honda Accord.
The Honda was later found abandoned in Waikiki.
It will be alleged the 35-year-old then burgled a home in Waikiki, struck a 47-year-old male resident in the head with a hammer and stole a green Holden Commodore sedan.
The 47-year-old was taken to Rockingham Hospital for treatment last night.
About an hour later, officers allegedly chased the Commodore through several suburbs with the help of the police helicopter.
The police spokeswoman said the chase ended when the driver crashed into a tree on Harmony Parade in Singleton.
The 35-year-old has been charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts aggravated armed robbery.
He has also been charged with failing to stop, reckless driving and no authority to drive.
He is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court today.
