Deann Ashby

A man charged with murdering his Mosman Park mother needs treatment in Graylands Hospital for another month, the Perth Magistrate's Court was told this morning.

Samuel Edward Ashby, whose left arm was in a sling, appeared in court on a video link from the hospital's secure Frankland Centre ward.

Mr Ashby's lawyer, Bill Harris, presented a report from the hospital which recommended his ongoing treatment at the facility for another four weeks.

Mr Harris said his client was "very, very ill."

Mr Ashby is charged with murdering Deann Ashby at her home on June 1.

The 39-year-old was remanded in custody to appear in court again on July 8.
