Time to Trek the Trail once again

After being cancelled last year because of strong winds, the annual Trek the Trail walking and cycling event will go ahead this year.

The Shire of Mundaring has confirmed the event, which begins and ends at Lake Leschenaultia, will take place on Sunday, September 21.

The 10km route includes a section of the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail that also runs through John Forrest National Park.

Shire president Helen Dullard said last year's event was cancelled for reasons of public safety.

"It was unfortunate that heavy winds led to the 2013 event being cancelled but public safety was a priority," she said.

"While this was the second time the event has been cancelled in its 10-year history, council made the decision to hold the trek again in 2014 because it is such a popular event for local residents and tourists.

"Participants in the free, family event will be able to enjoy the nature reserves blossoming with September wildflowers."
