Fighting spirit backs Glasgow athletes
Brooke Stratton, Grant Nel, Mack Horton, Steve Moneghetti, Bianca Chatfield, Jeff Riseley, Sarah Caldwell and Belinda Hocking show off their Commonwealth Games uniforms.

Australia's Commonwealth Games athletes will have the backing of the nation's defence forces when they compete in Glasgow from next month.

And they might need their support to fight off criticism.

The team's clothing was unveiled today and there are some funky designs to match the famous Dunlop volleys.

Jackets with strange lapels and bright green jumpers feature in the range of gear.

The unfiforms were locally designed and manufactured by Australian Defence Apparel.

Netballer Bianca Chatfield gave the uniforms her tick of approval.

"I can just imagine the netballers all trying to figure out which outfits look best," she said.

The Games begin with an opening ceremony at Celtic Park on July 23.
