WA entrepreneur Michael Kakulas died on Sunday, aged 101.

Mr Kakulas migrated from Greece with his parents in the 1920s, and the family bought Teeny Thomas Ginger Beer on William Street in 1929.

The business - soon turned into a food import shop and renamed Kakulas Bros - would become a Northbridge institution and remains to this day.

Mr Kakulas was regularly seen stacking shelves well into his 90s.

In 2010, he was awarded the Medal of Australia for service to the Greek Orthodox community.
