NPL - Teen's higher honours on hold

Inglewood United striker Teeboy Kamara has put aside thoughts of a return to the Hyundai A-League next season to focus on his club’s National Premier Leagues WA campaign.

Kamara, who was the A-League’s youngest ever debutant when he took to the field for Adelaide United at just 15, made an immediate impact on joining Inglewood this season.

And the 18-year-old aims to continue to help Inglewood push towards NPL finals before contemplating his next move.

“At the moment, I’ve not really been thinking about any clubs,” he said. “I’ve just been playing my natural game for Inglewood and I’m enjoying it.

“I have spoken to a couple of A-League clubs regarding next season but that is the furthest thing from my mind at the moment. I’m just happy to be back playing football again and helping Inglewood into the end-of-season finals.”

The Liberia-born striker, who moved to Australia in 2002 with his mother and siblings, first played for Croydon Kings and Salisbury United in South Australia before moving to the Australian Institute of Sport in 2011.

He was selected in the Australian under-17 World Cup squad for the finals in Mexico in 2011, before joining A-League side Adelaide United on his return.

Inglewood will go head-to-head with Intiga Stadium co-tenants Perth Glory on Saturday aiming to rediscover their earlier form.

While Glory lost 3-1 at home to Balcatta last weekend, Inglewood played out a disappointing 0-0 draw against 10-man Cockburn City at Dalmatinac Park.

"We were told a few home truths from the coach last week and we will surely bounce back and be back to our best,” Kamara said. “It’s going to be a good test for the boys. We’ve trained the house down this week and we are looking to get back to winning ways.”
