Police dog tracks alleged burglar

An alleged burglar has been charged after being tracked down by a police dog in Swanbourne last night.

The 34-year-old Ballajura man is alleged to have stolen several items from a home in Brassey Street at about 6.25pm before being chased off by a 40-year-old man, who was living in the home.

The 40-year-old alerted police before heading out along West Coast Highway to try and find some of the items at about 8pm.

The man reported hearing noises in the bushland and told police.

A police dog named Storm searched a 100m area and found the alleged burglar hiding in bushland with the allegedly stolen property.

The 34-year-old has been charged with aggravated burglary and commit and stealing.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court today.
