Witnesses to skateboarder crash sought

Hit Ellenbrook pedestrian dies

A 20-year-old man was killed yesterday morning whenafter he collided with the side of a utility while crossing a busy Ellenbrook road on his skateboard.

The Ellenbrook man was crossing Gnangara Road from south to north near the Lord Street roundabout via the pedestrian access when he travelled into the path of a white utility headed east.

The collision threw the skateboarder backwards and on to the road with critical head injuries.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The 20-year-old was taken to Swan District Hospital but died a short time later.

Major crash investigators are hoping to speak with the driver of a dark-coloured vehicle who was travelling just ahead of the white utility and who may have seen the victim on his skateboard as he stopped on the median strip.
