A Perth man who allegeldy stole fuel from a Wheatbelt petrol station has been hospitalised after he rolled a car while being pursued by police.

At 11:35pm yesterday, a man stole a Ford Territory Station Wagon and drove to Wubin Roadhouse where he allegedly drove off without paying for fuel.

The driver was pursued by police for 5km near Miling before the chase was aborted.

The stolen vehicle failed to negotiate a slight bend, rolled and came to a standstill in a paddock.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Moora Hospital as a precaution.

Police have charged a 19-year-old Stratton man with stealing a motor vehicle, failing to stop and driving with a blood alcohol level higher that 0.08 per cent.

He will face Perth Magistrates Court this morning.
