Police chopper tracks fleeing driver

The police helicopter was used to track a driver who failed to stop at a random breath test in Warnbro this morning.

At 1:30am police attempted to stop a Hyundai Sonata on Axminster Street.

It is alleged the driver failed to stop and was pursued through Warnbro and Waikiki.

The police helicopter followed the car for 40 minutes until it was abandoned on Devitt Grove in Parmelia.

The occupants of the vehicle fled and attempted to hide in the driveway of a home in Skottowe Parkway.

The helicopter directed ground officers to their location and they were apprehended.

A 19-year-old Rockingham man has been charged with reckless driving and failing to stop.

He is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrate's Court on June 6.

The other two male occupants of the vehicle have been released without charge.
