Learner driver in serious crash

A 19-year-old learner driver is in a serious condition after rolling her car in Perth’s southern suburbs last night.

The Yanchep teenager was driving a Holden Commodore with three passengers on board when she lost control of the car just before 11.30pm.

Travelling west on Tonkin Street, Mundijong, she crossed to the wrong side of the road and hit a tree, causing the car to roll.

Firefighters had to cut her out of the vehicle with the jaws of life.

The RAC rescue helicopter airlifted the driver to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Two injured passengers - a 21-year-old man and a girl, 17 - were also transferred to RPH.

The third passenger, an 18 year old woman was also injured.

Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.
