Police dog key to bush arrests

Two men have been charged with stealing a car after allegedly being tracked into the bush in Mirrabooka by a WA Police dog yesterday.

Police received information about a vehicle parked on the verge of the west bound lanes of Reid Highway about 5.30pm.

A police spokesman said the vehicle matched the description of a vehicle stolen in a burglary about 2pm yesterday afternoon in Landsdale.

"A Dog Squad unit was the first to arrive at the scene," the spokesman said.

Police allege two men who were standing with the car went into nearby bushland

"Police Dog Jose was deployed, and he tracked a scent through the bushland for a few hundred metres to the vicinity of the Herb Graham Rec Centre," the spokesman said.

"Additional police units attended and cordoned off the area, and two men were arrested."
