Whale washes up on northern beach
The carcass of a young hump back whale has washed up on Alkimos Beach.
The whale is believed to be the same animal that was being trailed by a shark last week.
A four-metre great white was spotted circling a whale close to shore on May 1.
Beaches were closed as the shark, which was swimming close to a six-metre whale, swam north from City Beach.
The shark and whale were spotted the day after drumlines set one kilometre off the coast were removed.
A large shark was seen following a whale last week.
