A mother and her two pre-school aged children have been rushed to Perth hospitals with serious injuries after their car collided with a truck east of Perth this morning.

The accident happened about 9.20am at the Lilydale Road and Avonholme Circle T-junction, 2km north of Chidlow.

Police say the 23-year-old woman lost control of her Ford Falcon sedan on a bend moments before the vehicle spun into the path of an oncoming truck.

The woman and her two children, aged two and four, were initially taken to Swan District Hospital for examination.

The children were then transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital while the mother went to Royal Perth Hospital.

The RAC Rescue helicopter was sent to the crash scene but did not transport anyone.

A critical care paramedic travelled in an ambulance with one patient to Swan Districts for clinical reasons.

Major crash officers are investigating.
