A thief was so pleased with his seat on a bus that he decided to take the back of the chair with him when he got off.

Police are looking for a young male who removed the seat back when he got off in Cockburn just before Christmas last year.

A police spokesman said the male got on the bus on North Lake Road in South Lake about 2.45pm on Wednesday, December 18.

"Whilst on the bus the male removed the seat back from one of the seats and moved to the back of the bus with it," police media said.

"The male then got off the bus at the Cockburn Train Station and took the seat back with him.

"The bus driver saw the male in the Success Convenience Store in Cockburn Central at about 3.20pm still carrying the seat back."

Police would like to speak to the man pictured.
