Arson squad busy at three fires

Firefighters battled three fires overnight, including a potentially toxic blaze at a pool supply warehouse in Balcatta.

At about 7.50pm last night, Emergency Services were called to a fire at a commercial property located on Stretton Place, Balcatta. The property is used as a pool supply warehouse and has chemicals on site.

Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Services units were in attendance and residents were warned to stay indoors because smoke from the blaze had the potential to harm.

Arson Squad officers have since deemed this fire as not suspicious.

About 10.30pm in Neerabup, arsonists entered a unit complex on Warman Street and forced their way into a unit where they set fire to property inside. DFES and police attended the scene.

Arson Squad officers have deemed this fire an arson related incident and Arson Squad investigators will be conducting inquiries. Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
