Boy, 11, charged with throwing rock

An 11-year-old boy has been charged after a car passenger was hit in the eye with a rock flung through the car window in Kwinana yesterday.

The young boy from Orelia has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm over the incident between 2.30pm and 2.45am which left the 48-year-old woman with several lacerations, bruising and small abrasions to the surface of her eyeball.

A police spokeswoman said a Suzuki Swift was travelling south along Gilmore Avenue. The 48-year old female victim was in the front passenger seat with the passenger window halfway down.

It is alleged a juvenile male threw a rock which struck the woman to her left eye.

The woman was taken to Rockingham Hospital for treatment.

The boy is due to appear in the Rockingham Children’s Court on 21 May 2014.
