Man trapped in vehicle after colliding with road train

A 36-year-old Port Hedland man is in a serious condition after his ute collided with a road train in Karijini yesterday.

The crash occurred about 50km north of Auski Roadhouse and 50km south of the Hillside Woodstock Road, trapping the driver in his vehicle.

He was airlifted to the South Hedland Health Campus then flown to Royal Perth Hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

It is understood the injured man’s heart stopped twice and he has internal injuries and multiple broken bones.

The driver of the road train was not injured.
