Lindsay Lohan has opened up about a miscarriage she had while filming her reality TV show.

The troubled star caused a stir with reports she delayed production by taking several weeks off during filming.

But in a fresh interview that aired on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network as part of the show's finale, Lohan revealed she had a heartbreaking reason for the break.

"No one knows this, I had a miscarriage for those two weeks that I took off. It's a very long story," the 27-year- old said.

The series, which was reportedly cancelled during the first season, followed Lohan just four days after she left rehab for the sixth time in six years.

Many have slammed Winfrey for commissioning the show due to the actress' wild behaviour and the criticism looks set to hit fever pitch after Lohan's tearful finale revelation.

Even the redhead's mother Dina weighed in on the episode with a simple tweet, "Oprah call me", which was later deleted.
