Driver charged after woman hurt in crash

A woman has serious leg injuries and a male driver has been charged after a crash in Hamilton Hill early this morning.

Police allege that just after midnight, a black Toyota Prado was travelling west along Healy Road, Hamilton Hill.

As it approached the intersection of Carrington Street, it allegedly veered on to the wrong side of the road and over the median strip in an attempt to turn right into Carrington Street.

The Toyota Prado collided with a Ford utility that was travelling south on Carrington Street, resulting in the 42-year-old female driver of the Ford receiving serious leg injuries in the crash.

She was taken to Fremantle hospital where she had emergency surgery.

A 24-year-old Coolbellup man has been charged with Dangerous Driving Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm and he is due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on April 29.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the Toyota Prado before the crash.
