Graffiti footage leads to drugs, weapon charges

Footage of graffiti on trains led police to charge three men with multiple offences.

An off-duty police officer notified police when he saw the men acting suspiciously in an East Perth park yesterday morning.

Further inquiries found a train in Thornlie had earlier been damaged by graffiti.

Police searched the group’s vehicles and allegedly uncovered digital recording devices with footage of the trains being vandalised.

Further searches were carried out on a number of homes yesterday, which resulted in police charging the three men.

A 26-year-old Caversham man was charged with criminal damage and trespass and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.

A 29-year-old Swan View man was charged with multiple drug offences and providing false particulars.

A 25-year-old North Perth man faces criminal damage, trespass, carry a controlled weapon and possess drug paraphernalia.

The latter two men are scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on May 6.
