Wife's grief at husband's murder
UPDATE: Three of the four people who killed a Wanneroo man have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Tamara Kathleen Broadbent, Damien Paul Kosick and Gary David Young were yesterday found guilty of murdering David Blenksinsopp following a two-month trial in the Supreme Court.
Kym Steven Foster was convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter.
The four were sentenced today.
Broadbent was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 24 years for murdering Mr Blenkinsopp.
Kosick was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 22 years and Young was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 24 years.
Foster was jailed for eight years for Mr Blenkinsopp's manslaughter. He will be eligible for parole after serving six years.
Mr Blenkinsopp's widow has described her "terrible and excruciating grief", telling a court her faith in humanity has been shattered and how she struggles to explain to her two young sons why their father is not coming home.
Dianna Blenkinsopp today read a powerful victim impact statement during sentencing submissions for the four people convicted over the death of her husband David in March 2012.
Mrs Blenkinsopp today described how she struggles to tell her two young sons why their father was in heaven.
She said her husband's killing had shattered her faith in humanity and it sickened her to know the faces of his four killers were the last images he saw before he died.
Mr Blenkinsopp was shot several times and hit by a car near his Wanneroo home before he was taken to bushland in Pinjar, north of Perth, where at least one more shot was fired at his head and his body buried in a bush grave.
Mrs Blenkinsopp said she and her two young sons had a life sentence and she wished no other family would have to endure the same suffering as hers.
She remembered her husband as a loving man with an "unquenchable thirst for life".
Prosecutors alleged Mr Blenkinsopp was lured to his death by his former lover, Broadbent, and did not stand a chance when he was confronted by the group on a suburban Wanneroo street in the early hours of March 4, 2012.
Prosecutor Bruno Fiannaca said the jury's verdicts regarding Broadbent, Young and Kosick were consistent with a plan to kill Mr Blenkinsopp.
