Charges over alleged station assault

A 26-year-old Bassendean man has been charged after he allegedly indecently assaulted a teenager in Maylands last month.

The 15-year-old was with her family at Maylands train station on February 14 and told police the alleged incident happened as she boarded a train.

The man got on to the train at the same time and allegedly stared at the teenager until he got off at Mt Lawley.

Police yesterday released a photo of the man as they appealed for help to catch him.

A spokeswoman said the man came into Perth police station because of the media attention.

He has been charged with aggravated indecent assault and will appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court on April 14.
