Stinger deployed on freeway after chase

A stinger was deployed on the Mitchell Freeway early this morning after a police pursuit through the northern suburbs.

A police spokesman said a 27-year old Yokine woman had been charged over the incident.

Police allege that shortly before 1am, officers attempted to intercept a stolen Subaru Liberty on Beach Road, Malaga. The female driver "drove away at speed"

The vehicle was reported stolen during a burglary in Mount Hawthorn yesterday.

Officers chased the vehicle with the help of the Police Airwing.

A stinger was deployed and the car came to a stop on the Mitchell Freeway southbound, about 100 metres south of Warwick Road.

The woman has been charged with failing to stop, no drivers licence, stealing and driving with blood alcohol in excess of 0.05.

She will face the Perth Magistrates Court today.
