Worthington climbs on for Everest
R *ockingham *-raised actor *Sam Worthington *'s resume continues to bloom.
The Avatar star has just signed on to join the cast of adventure movie Everest, based on the true story of the deadly 1996 Mt Everest disaster and set to hit cinemas in September 2015.
The 37-year-old, left, joins the high-profile cast of *Jake Gyllenhaal *, *Josh Brolin *, *Jason Clarke *, *John Hawkes *and House of Cards star *Robin Wright *.
Everest tells the story of two different expeditions which are trying to reach the summit when they get caught in a blizzard.
Worthington will play *Guy Cotter *, a scaling expert from New Zealand.
Eight people were killed in the 1996 disaster, including experienced climber and guide *Scott Fischer *, to be played by Gyllenhaal.
Worthington was spotted farewelling his rumoured wife *Lara Bingle *at Los Angeles Airport on Monday, as the model had to head back to Sydney to continue her court-ordered traffic- offenders program.
