A woman was arrested this morning after police received two phone calls about attempted break-ins in Bassendean.

The first call came from a woman who could hear people trying to break into her Hamilton Street house just after 3am.

A short time later, another emergency call was received from a resident on Whitfield Street, which runs parallel to Hamilton Street.

A 26-year-old woman was taken into custody after a police dog tracked her scent to a garden at the second house.

She was taken to hospital after claiming she had been hit by someone at the Hamilton Street home.

Police are still investigating. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
