Perth a city of beauty: Trunfio

There is definitely something in the water when it comes to Perth producing top models, according to one of WA's biggest success stories Nicole Trunfio.

The Australind-raised star is a judge and mentor alongside British supermodel Naomi Campbell on new modelling reality TV search The Face Australia.

Thousands of girls across Australia applied.

In the first episode, shown on Foxtel's FOX8 last night, five WA models were chosen for the top 12.

"There is something in the water over here that is amazing," New York-based Trunfio said.

On last night's episode, Campbell and Trunfio had quite an argument. Things got so heated on the set Trunfio contemplated quitting days into filming last year.

"I felt quite disrespected by her," Trunfio said.

"In the beginning, it just wasn't worth it for me. I was like my dad is not well and my boyfriend (Gary Clark Jr) is in New York and has time off and I don't need to be dealing with this. But I am super glad I stood my ground."

Trunfio was in Perth for a whirlwind promotional trip but almost didn't make it after being rushed to Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital on Monday morning with excruciating stomach pains.

The 28-year-old was given the all clear.
