Nalder steps up to Cabinet role

WA's newest Cabinet minister was sworn in yesterday as Governor Malcolm McCusker formalised the changes to Colin Barnett's ministry forced by the departure of Troy Buswell.

Alfred Cove MLA Dean Nalder received his commission as Transport and Finance Minister and Energy Minister Mike Nahan added Treasury to his workload in a brief lunchtime ceremony at Government House.

They were joined by the Premier, who swore a new oath to officially reflect his handing over of Mr Buswell's transport and treasury portfolios, which Mr Barnett technically held for a week after Mr Buswell's resignation. Mr Nalder, 48, was watched by wife Colette and children Cambell, 20, Alette, 18 and Chris, 15.

Parliamentary secretaries John McGrath, Jim Chown and Donna Faragher also swore new oaths, reflecting minor changes to their portfolio responsibilities.
