WA Police yesterday interviewed Troy Buswell's chief of staff Rachael Turnseck as it emerged her former boss has hired legal representation.

The former treasurer is understood to have engaged prominent solicitor Laura Willox-Timpano over the police investigation into the damage caused to his ministerial car after he was drinking for several hours at a Kings Park wedding.

Ms Willox-Timpano, who became well-known as solicitor for former barrister Lloyd Rayney during his murder trial last year, would not comment yesterday.

She is one of the solicitors who often briefs criminal silk Tom Percy.

Premier Colin Barnett yesterday confirmed, as The West Australian reported on Tuesday, that Ms Turnseck knew on February 23, the morning after the wedding, about damage to the car.

Asked if she had an obligation to report this, Mr Barnett said her priority had been Mr Buswell's welfare.

He repeated that neither he nor anyone in his office knew about the car crash until last Sunday.
