Drug arrest at hospital
A 32-year-old patient who was allegedly found to have methylamphetamine and more than $38,000 cash in his possession when he underwent treatment in hospital has been charged by police.
Officers from the organised crime squad's district response team executed a search warrant on Ryan James Salton's room in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on February 12.
It will be alleged officers found 18g of methylamphetamine and $38,740 cash.
The drugs and money were seized. Further investigations by the team led to a raid on the man's Southern River residence on Tuesday.
Police allegedly found about 129g of methylamphetamine with an estimated value of $60,000.
They also allegedly seized ephedrine, pseudoephedrine tablets, cannabis, a firearm, ammunition, a litre of GHB and other drug- related items.
Mr Salton appeared in Armadale Magistrate's Court on Wednesday and was refused bail.
He is next due to appear in the same court on Tuesday.
