Freo's Morabito passes first test

Anthony Morabito has completed the first stage of his comeback to the AFL with a successful return with Peel in a WAFL pre-season match this afternoon.

Morabito played three quarters of the Thunder's clash with Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

Fremantle only wanted the 22-year-old to play about 70 minutes in his first outing in more than 18 months. He watched the final term from the sidelines with a touch of soreness, which was expected after such a long time out of the game.

"It's great to get through unscathed," he told Fremantle's website.

Morabito has endured three knee reconstructions in a frustrating AFL career. His last match was for Peel in round 14 2012 but he hasn't played for Fremantle since his debut season in 2010.

He will continue with the Thunder, building up match fitness, for several weeks before being considered for a return to Dockers duty.

Fremantle recruit Colin Sylvia also got through the match with Peel unscathed.

The Thunder won the match 9.11 (65) to 9.7 (61).
