Armed man steals pub till

Police are hunting for an armed robber who stole a cash register from the White Sands Tavern in Scarborough this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said the man, who was armed with a large knife, threatened staff and stole the till containing cash from the pub on West Coast Highway about 12.50pm.

She said nobody was injured.

The man was last seen on Hastings Street, running towards Brighton Road.

Officers searched the area but did not find the offender, who is described as fair skinned and about 180cm tall with a medium build.

He was wearing blue shorts and a maroon hooded jumper.
