It's already been dubbed "the best selfie of all time" and led Twitter to crash within moments of it being posted.
Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres pulled together a collection of stars from the audience during the broadcast to pose for a happy snap, including Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Lupita Nyong'o, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
DeGeneres originally handed a smart phone to Meryl Streep to capture the moment but the veteran actress remarked she didn't know how to use Twitter, so instead the baton was passed to Bradley Cooper to stand in as photographer.
The snap was posted to the social networking site and almost immediately caused DeGeneres' page to crash due to the influx of viewers flocking to see the result of the selfie.
Less than one hour later, the image had already been re-tweeted more than one million times.
DeGeneres addressed the technical malfunction later in the night, proudly exclaiming: "We crashed Twitter."
