World champion arm wrestler Devon "No Limits" Larratt had his first bout with his grandma as a small boy on their farm on the banks of Lake Ontario in Canada.

Growing to 198cm tall, Larratt's childhood obsession with being a strongman led him to pursue professional arm wrestling at 18.

He is in Perth to share tips with WA enthusiasts.

The giant Canadian, 37, with 43.5cm biceps schooled serious wrestlers as they battled at a private seminar and training session in Joondalup, part of Larratt's first Australian tour to compete at the FitX Armwrestling Championships in Melbourne this month.

Australian Armwrestling Federation WA representative Murray McKay said the annual State titles attracted about 60 competitors and 400 spectators.

"We obviously consider it a sport," he said. "We take it very seriously and it's gathering momentum."
