Motorbike rider charged after crash

A man who crashed an allegedly stolen motorbike while trying to flee from police in West Swan has been charged.

Traffic Enforcement Group officers were on West Swan Road about 10.10pm when they spotted a motorbike allegedly being ridden without its headlight on.

The officers activated their emergency lights and the motorbike pulled into a nearby service station.

Police allege the rider tried to ride away but crashed into a bollard and was arrested.

Police allege the motorbike was reported stolen two days earlier and had different number plates.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, failing to stop, reckless driving and having no authority to drive.

He also faces drug charges.

He is due to appear in Midland Magistrate's Court on March 21.
