Rider seriously injured in Freo crash

A section of High Street in Fremantle has been closed after a serious crash between a car and a motorcycle this afternoon.

The male rider was rushed to Fremantle Hospital with severe injuries after colliding with the car about 2.20pm.

The motorcycle burst into flames and had to be extinguished by firefighters.

Police have closed High Street eastbound from Wilkinson Street to Onslow Street.

Major Crash investigators are on their way to the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
