Fire damage to abandoned fast-food joint

A 25-year-old Midvale man allegedly lit several fires in Midvale overnight which damaged an old fast-food building.

The man was charged with wilfully lighting a fire likely to injure after he allegedly sparked several blazes in bush near Roe Highway and Morrison Road about 6.30pm.

A derelict Chicken Treat was damaged.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the damage bill was negligible because the building was abandoned.

The alleged arsonist is due to face Midland Magistrates Court on March 18.
