Former women’s world boxing champion Erin McGowan has her first outing since September 2012 when she appears on the Western Alliance 12 show next month.
The March 22 card at the Kingsway Indoor Stadium also has young prospect Nathaniel May looking to bounce back from a first pro loss earlier this month.
“All the guys will have challenging fights and it’s a good way to get the ball rolling for this year,” promoter Ty Colman said.
“Erin wants to get back up the rankings and onto the world scene after a big lay-off.”
This will be McGowan’s first fight in Perth since 2010, when she won the world lightweight title. She has lost twice since in further world title fights - in Argentina up at light-welter and then in Belgium back at lightweight.
There are nine fights scheduled for the night, including popular light-heavyweight veteran Dave Letizia and a trio from Hassan’s Gym – cruiserweight John Squillace, light-middleweight Sam Hogan and Irish minimumweight Anto Connolly.
Colman said two of CDL Promotions’ biggest draws – Daniel Dawson and Robbie Bryant – would fight on their June 28 show.
Light-middleweight Dawson recently had shoulder surgery and Bryant is working his way back after his Australian middleweight title loss to Dennis Hogan in December.
