Suspicious bushfire at Collie

A bushfire advice has been issued for the southern part of Worsley in the Shire of Collie.

Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

The fire, which is deemed suspicious, is burning in grassland between Coalfields Highway and Gastaldo Road. It was reported at 2.19am.

The bushfire, which has a 50m fire front, is moving slowly in a westerly direction.

It is a small controllable fire.

Ten volunteer Bush Fire Service firefighters from a number of brigades are on the scene. Firefighters are strengthening containment lines.

The Shire of Collie is managing the fire.

WHAT TO DO


Be extremely careful when driving through the area.

Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.

Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.

If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears

No roads have been closed but motorists should avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.
