Pregnant woman dies in crash

A heavily pregnant woman from Corrigin has died in a car crash near Brookton this morning.

Emergency services were called to Brookton Highway, about 20km west of Brookton at 8.10am after reports a car had crashed into a tree.

A 19-year-old pregnant passenger is believed to have sustained critical injuries upon impact and was initially trapped within the vehicle.

The car’s 18-year-old male driver has been airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital on the RAC Rescue helicopter.

He is understood to have suffered minor injuries.

Police confirmed the woman and her baby had died. She is believed to have been 7-8 months into her pregnancy.
