Cabbie treated after Joondalup crash

A taxi driver was taken to hospital after his cab and a car that had earlier been pursued by police crashed in Joondalup overnight.

A police spokeswoman said police had allegedly spotted a white Ford Falcon mount the median strip on Joondalup Drive about 1.30am.

The officers activated their lights and sirens but the driver allegedly failed to stop and travelled north on Joondalup Drive at speed.

The police spokeswoman said the officers then stopped following the car.

"A short time later police came across the scene of a crash involving the Falcon and a taxi," the spokeswoman said.

The taxi driver was taken to Joondalup Health Campus for treatment of injuries that were not life threatening.

The 22-year-old driver of the Falcon was arrested at his home in Cottesloe.

He will be charged with traffic offences and appear in court at a later date.
